Divine Design

Teenagers quickly learn that it is easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.  We often take the same approach with God.  We make plans for what we want, and we leave God out of the planning process.  Then we involve God by asking Him to "bless" what we have already decided to do.  Don't treat God like a magic wand that you wave over your plans.  Involve Him at the very beginning.
I know I'm guilty of this and it really hits home for me.

Pro 3:5-6
(5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

(6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
